How to export your Wealthsimple activity

Do this once in Wealthsimple, then come back and upload the file on the Holdings tab.

1
Open Activity on wealthsimple.com

The export only works from a browser on a computer, not the mobile app. Log in at wealthsimple.com and go to Activity (the clock icon in the left sidebar).

2
Open Filters and check these Types

This tool reads specific activity types — anything else in your export is safely ignored, but if you leave one of these unchecked it just goes missing with no warning:

  • Buys and Sells — every trade, for cost basis and realized gains
  • Dividends — dividend income (Dividends tab) and the CDN/foreign tax split (Tax tab)
  • Corporate Actions — stock splits, mergers, ticker changes
  • Fees — includes the non-resident withholding tax on foreign dividends, needed for the Tax tab
3
Set Status to Completed

Still in Filters, set Status to Completed so pending/cancelled entries don't get included.

4
Click Download Activities, then pick the full date range

Clicking Download Activities prompts you for a date range. There's no "all time" option, only Custom range — set the start date well before you opened the account (e.g. 10+ years back) so nothing gets cut off. Cost basis is a running total starting from your very first trade, so if the export skips your early history, every cost-basis and gain/loss number after that point will be wrong.

5
Upload it here

Go to the Holdings tab and use the Upload CSV box. It's parsed and stored only in this browser (IndexedDB) — the file itself is never sent anywhere.

Multiple Wealthsimple accounts or profiles? Export each one separately and upload them together (the file picker accepts multiple files at once). Other brokerages aren't supported yet — their exports use different column formats, and uploading one here won't error, it'll just silently show zero holdings.

FIRE Assumptions

Simplified model: pre-tax, doesn't account for RRSP/TFSA/FHSA withdrawal sequencing, tax drag, or CPP/OAS. Annual Savings isn't derived from your CSV (this tool doesn't track deposit history) — type in what you actually plan to save. The Fixed withdrawal strategy uses a flat real (inflation-adjusted) annual withdrawal; the Guardrails strategy cuts spending 10% if a simulated year's withdrawal rate drifts more than 20% above your target rate, and raises it 10% if it drifts more than 20% below. Cash earns its own interest rate blended into the simulation by today's cash-vs-invested mix. Historical Mode replays actual 1928–2025 US S&P 500 real returns (a USD market proxy, not currency-matched to CAD) as overlapping historical windows. Nothing here is saved — inputs reset to these defaults on reload.
